Welcome to Lake Region Basketball Officials Association (LRBOA). The purpose of this association is to improve, foster, and perpetuate competent officiating while promoting better working conditions for our officials. Our mission is to train, equip, and release high quality officials in order to create the best atmosphere for Officials, Coaches, and players.
LRBOA provides basketball Officials to Polk County Public and Private schools as well as many Lake and Highlands County Schools. We have over 100 primary and 20 secondary officials that travel to these schools to officiate Middle School, Junior Varsity, and Varsity girls and boys basketball games. All LRBOA Officials are sanctioned by the Florida High School Athletics Association, and have met all requirements necessary to officiate basketball, including passing the annual rules test and passing the background check in accordance with the Jessica Lunsford Act . LRBOA Officials are taught and trained with rules application supported by the National Federation of High School Sports.
Board of Directors
LRBOA is governed by a Board of Directors made up of a President, Secretary, Treasurer, and four At-Large Members. The purpose of the board is to advise, govern, oversee, and assist with the leadership and general promotion of the LRBOA By-Laws and Policies and Procedures, as well as, the support of the associations mission and needs.
Each Board position has a term length of two years. Each position is voted on by the membership. Any primary member can run for office, and any member is permitted to nominate a fellow member for office. Elections are held at the end of each season with the positions up for election alternating.
